A Max Air fight VM1623 with registration mumber 5N-BBM, on Thursday, suffered ‘engine abnormality’ during its ascent and had to make an emergency landing.

The airline said the flight crew, following established procedures, shut down the affected engine and safely returned to Maiduguri International Airport and all passengers and crew members were unharmed.

“To minimise passenger inconvenience, MaxAir immediately deployed a rescue aircraft to transport passengers to their intended destinations. We sincerely apologise for any disruption caused and thank our passengers for their understanding and cooperation.

“MaxAir is actively investigating the cause of the engine abnormality in collaboration with aviation authorities. As a leading Nigerian airline, we remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritising safety and operational excellence,” the airline said.
