The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has described the arrest of former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) as personal vendetta, aimed at rubbishing the ambition of Mr. Peter Obi.

Leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, who made the claim in a statement he released to journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, urged the commission to concentrate on fighting corruption and other financial mismanagement.

He said, “EFCC’s insensitivity in discharging their sacred duties is deepening the corrupt image of the Nigeria State before the international communities.

“EFCC ought to be a major organ of government to redeem the badly damaged Nigerian image, but their selected actions and vendetta war against the presumed political enemies and critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration is causing more harm to this administration.

“EFCC has openly turned blind eyes to the gross liquidation and embezzlement of the nation’s economy and treasury by their masters piloting this nation that will soon shipwreck. The sudden arrest and quick arraignment of Dr Chris Ngige, and his subsequent detention by the EFCC exposed the nakedness and market dancing of the errand financial commission.

“EFCC, in the efforts to do their master’s bidding, listed many companies Dr Chris Ngige awarded contracts to, whom they claimed that the owners of the said companies are his proxies, but EFCC failed to tell Nigerians if those companies delivered the said contracts or not.

“MASSOB observed that the fear of Mr. Peter Obi’s ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election has deeply sent his detractors into sleepless nights.

“Just few days after Mr. Peter Obi paid a brotherly sympathy visitation to Dr Chris Ngige, over the unfortunate attack on him by criminal elements.

MASSOB is concerned about this unwarranted and unjustifiable harassment against Dr Chris Ngige because he is an Igbo man, even though he does not support Biafra separation from Nigeria.

“Though Dr Chris Ngige, Mr. Peter Obi, and other Igbo political leaders still believe in oneness of Nigeria, MASSOB will never allow them to be ridiculed by agents of Nigeria. We are all Igbo before Nigeria or Biafra,” Madu stated.
