Man stabs pregnant wife to death in Benue

The police in Benue state have apprehended a middle aged man, Matthew Bem, who allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife to death at Korinya in Konshisha Local Government Area, (LGA), of the State.

At the time of writing this report, on Tuesday, details of the incident was still sketchy but a source from the area, who didn’t want to be named, said the couple had a minor misunderstanding on Tuesday morning when he suddenly used a knife and stabbed the wife on her chest.

The source said “We learnt that the couple had a minor disagreement this morning and the man pulled a knife and killed his pregnant wife.

“The incident almost sparked protest in the town but for the quick intervention of the elders of the community who stopped the youths from meting jungle justice on him.

“Nobody has been able to get from the man why he killed the woman because he has not been able to explain to anybody why he did it. He has remained silent since that morning.

“But the Police have taken him away for questioning and investigation after he was rescued from the youths who wanted him to have a taste of what he did to the wife.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene confirmed the incident saying the police had apprehended him and were p investigating the matter.

She said, “the incident is true and the suspect is in custody for investigations but I’m still waiting for details,” she said.
