A 63-year-old man, Lukman Odejoju, has allegedly killed his 100-year-old mother, Aminat Ojejoju, after a disagreement over proceeds from palm oil.
The incident happened at Kajola village in Apomu, Isokan Local Government of Osun State.
Findings showed that the mother and her son disagreed over who should collect the annual proceeds of palm oil from their inherited farm.
It was gathered that the woman insisted that she would collect the first proceed and this infuriated the man thus leading to an argument.
The spokesperson of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident.
She explained that the incident happened on Saturday and the corpse of the woman and the assailant ( Lukman) had been taken to Apomu Police station
The spokesperson of the police, Yemisi Opalola, also confirmed the incident saying “The son told us that he pushed her mother and she fell which caused his death.
“He said he could not explain the spirit that possessed him. The investigation is on and we have transferred him to the Command Headquarters in Osogbo for further investigation,” Opalola said.
