No fewer than 144 communities across Oyo State have benefited from 316 micro-projects executed by the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.

The Chairman of OYCSDA, Hon Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ workshop held at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat, Ibadan, where local government officials reviewed implementation procedures for NG-CARES 2.0 micro-projects.

Adeaga described the intervention as unprecedented in the history of the agency, noting that the projects were funded by NG-CARES 1.0 as part of the state government’s “Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023–2027,” also known as Omituntun 2.0.

According to him, the micro-projects cut across education, healthcare, erosion control, rural road access and potable water supply, with tangible impacts already recorded in beneficiary communities.

He said the interventions had led to increased school enrolment, a reduction in out-of-school children, improved access to healthcare services, easier movement within rural communities and a decline in water-borne diseases due to better access to clean water.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Sikiru Sanda, commended OYCSDA for spreading development evenly across the state.

The General Manager of OYCSDA, Mr Jelili Salau, disclosed that all 316 projects had been completed and were currently in use by the benefiting communities.
