A former National Vice Chairman, South-East, Chief Ali Odefa, has said that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will reset and transform Nigeria if elected president of the country in next year’s general election.
Odefa said only Makinde will deliver the nation from hunger and poverty the way he did in Oyo State.
Odefa stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, in an interview with journalists.
He explained that the governor was running for the 2027 presidency to completely reset the country and take it to the promised land.
” Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, is running, is contesting the office of the President of the Republic of Nigeria on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement, that’s the APM.
“And the objective is to completely reset the Nigerian entity, to reset Nigeria. You see, the situation we are in Nigeria now, you don’t need to base chances of winning on party.
“Yes, party could be the conveyor belt that will get you access to present yourself to the public. But I can tell you that the situation with Nigerians, with the poverty level with Nigerians, Nigerians will not look at the party this time around. It is going to be Nigerians versus leadership. Hunger versus leadership. Nigerians are hungry.
“So everybody is looking at who can take us to the promised land. And that is why we are looking at Engineer Seyi Makinde. He has done it in Oyo State.
“He turned around Oyo State. Now we are asking Nigerians to give us the opportunity for him to do it in Nigeria as a whole.
“The hunger level in this country is absolutely too much. Even you interviewing me, I know how much you bought fuel this morning. I know you are not comfortable with that.
“How much do you earn that you buy fuel for N1,429? 50 litres is over N70,000. Minimum wage is just N70,000. If you are a civil servant and you have a car, which means you buy fuel once, the entire salary is gone.

“You are not paying rent. You have not bought food. You have not clothed your family and all of that. So, it’s a reset agenda. Makinde is a reset agent, and that’s why we’re asking Nigerians to look at it. Nobody is bothered about party. We’re not bothered about party.
“We want to make things work again. There are many hydra-headed problems confronting Nigeria,” Odefa said.
He opined that opposition parties were still together in their struggle to enthrone good governance in the country.
“The opposition parties have come together, and we are still talking and we are working together. When Engineer Seyi Makinde inaugurated his campaign headquarters in Abuja, you saw Peter Obi came.
“Peter Obi was in attendance at the inauguration of the office, at the launching of the office. It shows that the opposition is coming together. We are not interested in who gets what, but we are interested in getting Nigeria back working again.
“The opposition parties, the real opposition parties, are working together to safeguard and rescue this country from the eclipse of this current ruling party,” he disclosed.
Odefa described rainbow coalition as championed by Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, as strange in the nation’s polity.
“They call it rainbow coalition. It’s strange. I’ve never heard it in any political space anywhere on this planet.
“I’ve never heard it, where you say you are an opposition party, but you are supporting the president, you are not supporting me. It doesn’t make sense to me.
“What makes sense is there is a coalition of opposition parties, and all the opposition parties are working together to better the lot of Nigeria,” he stated.
