Nigeria’s  former permanent representative to the United Nations in the Second Republic, Yusuf Maitama Sule, 87, Dan Masinin Kano, is dead.

Sources said Sule, reputed for his gift of oratory and flawless use of language, was flown to Egypt, few days ago, after his condition deteriorated, where he  eventually died.

A statement by Kano’s Commissioner of Information, Youth and Culture, Mallam Mohammed Garba, said funeral prayers for the elder statesman would be conducted today, at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar-Kudu, by 4:00pm.
