Former Senate president, Ken Nnamani; former governors Jim Nwobodo, Chimaroke Nnamani, Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; former minister of power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, and businessman, Prince Arthur Eze, are among prominent personalities named in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 elections in Enugu State.

Also on the council inaugurated by Governor Peter Mbah at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, on Tuesday, are former military governor of old Anambra State, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke (retd.); former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla (retd.); and former deputy governor, Cecilia Ezeilo.

Mbah, who chairs the campaign council comprising 51 directorates, charged party members to campaign on the achievements of his administration and President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that the APC would win all elections in the state in 2027.

The deputy governor, Ifeanyi Ossai; APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Uchenna Ugwu; state APC chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, and Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, serve as vice chairmen.

Chief Charlie Mbah is the director-general, while Dr. Eric Oluedo is secretary-general.

Members of the advisory council include Ken Nnamani, Nwobodo, Madueke, Nnaji, Eze, former minister of information and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Frank Nweke Jr., and Senator Chuka Utazi.

Former deputy governors Ezeilo, Bishop Ralph Nwoye, Dr. Sunday Onyebuchi and Chief Okechukwu Itanyi are also members of the advisory council.

Addressing party leaders and supporters, Mbah said his administration had justified the mandate it received in 2023, arguing that its record provided sufficient grounds to seek renewed support from the electorate.

He urged members to take the campaign to communities across the state and defend the party’s performance, accusing the opposition of relying on propaganda.

The governor said he would personally campaign in the state’s 68 development centres and commission Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across its 260 political wards.

“So, you should be proud of Enugu. You should be unapologetically APC. I am really excited because we are going to go to all the 68 Development Centres. I will personally visit all the Development Centres. I will go to the markets with you.

“The people of Enugu cannot wait to see us. They are so excited. And as I go, I will also take time to go to every ward to commission both the Smart Green School and the Primary Healthcare Centre,” he said.

Citing assessments of the state’s performance, Mbah said the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index ranked Enugu as the fastest-improving state among the 33 assessed, with a momentum score of +1.15.

He also said the state rose from 36th among 37 subnational governments in 2023 to sixth nationally in the 2025 ease-of-doing-business ranking of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council.

Mbah attributed his administration’s capacity to execute projects partly to Tinubu’s economic reforms, which, he said, had increased funds available to states.

“We must also campaign hard for the President because it also took those bold and courageous policies of his to achieve what we accomplished in the last three years. You can have all this vision and conviction, but if you do not back it up with money, you cannot do anything. Therefore, we also need to recognise and acknowledge that,” he said.

The governor also cited federal infrastructure interventions and appointments, saying Tinubu had demonstrated commitment to the development of the South East despite receiving a small share of the region’s votes in 2023.

In his remarks, the campaign director-general, Chief Charlie Mbah, pledged to build a campaign organisation capable of reaching voters throughout the state.

“My commitment is to build an inclusive, organised, result-oriented and issues-based campaign that reaches every senatorial zone, local government area, ward, community, and polling unit across Enugu State,” he said.

Senator Osita Ngwu, Ikeje Asogwa and Senator Kelvin Chukwu were named coordinators for Enugu West, Enugu North and Enugu East, respectively, while Deacon Okey Ogbodo, Dr. Dan Shere and S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye are deputy directors-general for Enugu East, Enugu North and Enugu West.

Steve Oruruo serves as campaign spokesperson and director of the Public Communication Committee, with Dr. Austin Okolie as co-spokesperson and Dr. Malachy Agbo as secretary.

Mazi Uche Anichukwu heads the Directorate of New Media and Strategic Communication, while Dan Nwomeh leads the Directorate of Mainstream Media.

Ogalla chairs the Security Directorate, with former Inspector-General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo (retd.), as secretary, while Nwoye and Uche Nwatu serve as director and co-director of the Fundraising Committee.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, heads the Directorate of Government Appointees Coordination, with Onyia as secretary.

The state APC woman leader, Mrs. Esther Edeh, heads the Women Mobilisation Directorate, with the party’s South East woman leader, Dr. Oby Ajih, as co-director and Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, as secretary.

Other appointments include Utazi as director of Parliamentary Mobilisation, Senator Ben Collins Ndu as director of Contact and Mobilisation, and actress Rachael Okonkwo as director of Creativity and Entertainment.
