Abuja-based online digital news platform, Daylight Reporters, has announced key editorial appointments in an effort to reshape and expand its editorial scope and direction.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the platform, Dahiru Hassan Kera, in a statement, said Fidelis Mac-Leva, a seasoned journalist and editor, is to serve as Editor-in-Chief.

He is to oversee newsroom operations with a team, comprising Anthony Maliki as Editor and Adah Sunday Abah as News Editor.

A graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri, Mac Leva has over two decades of progressive experience in political reporting, investigative journalism and editorial management across leading Nigeria media organisations.

His strong investigative footprint, especially at Daily Trust and the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), brings a wealth of experience to reshape the editorial direction of the online digital platform.

Over the years, Ma-Leva worked in various newsrooms, including Daily Times, on politics, governance and human rights reporting.

His work is known for pulling court records, giving voice to victims and spotlighting gaps in public institutions.

The management of Daylight Reporters said his appointment reflects the platform’s resolve to deliver more rigorous, fact based and people-centred reporting.

“Mac-Leva’s depth in investigative reporting and commitment to holding power to account align perfectly with Daylight Reporter’s vision.

“As Editor-in-Chief, he will oversee newsroom operations, set editorial policy and drive investigations that focus on governance gaps, security and citizens’ rights,” the management said.

Equally on the new editorial team are Maliki and Abah who are to serve as Editor and News Editor, respectively.

A graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, Maliki also holds a post graduate diploma in journalism from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Lagos.

He was a State Correspondent (Borno) for PUNCH and Senior Correspondent (Kaduna, Benue, Plateau) for Champion Newspapers and later worked at Daily Trust and Leadership Newspapers as Assistant Editor.

Abah, who has been appointed as News Editor for the platform, is a Mass Communication graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.

He worked with the LEADERSHIP as a reporter and senior reporter and became Assistant Business Editor of Aljazirah Nigeria Newspaper, Abuja.

The CEO of Daylight Reporters, Dahiru Hassan Kera, said the new appointments reflect the platform’s resolve to deliver more rigorous, fact-based and people-centred reporting.

He reiterated the commitment of Daylight Reporters as an independent news platform towards factual, timely and impact driven journalism, stressing that “politics, governance, security and development issues affecting Nigerians remain our priority.”
