LSSTF boss lauds IGP’s welfare reforms

Executive secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Ayodele Ogunsan, yesterday, paid a  visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters, in Abuja, where he lauded the Nigeria Police chief’s leadership, welfare initiatives and reform agenda.

During the meeting, Ogunsan described Disu’s appointment as a defining moment for policing in Nigeria, noting that “the name Disu is synonymous with excellence, discipline and high standards in policing.” He added that the IGP’s emergence is widely regarded as a strategic development, bringing years of sterling service and commendable personal qualities to the forefront of national security leadership.

Ogunsan commended the IGP’s people-focused approach, particularly his efforts towards improving the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police. He cited the recent presentation of N2.4 billion in cheques to families of fallen officers as a profound demonstration of compassion and institutional responsibility, noting that such gestures significantly boost morale within the force.

The LSSTF boss also praised the ongoing reform initiatives under Disu’s leadership, describing them as bold and forward-looking. He commended the prompt promotion of 84 senior officers, which included the new 13 AIGs and 17 CPs, noting that steady professional growth is something that spurs every officer to greater works. He highlighted the emphasis on professionalism, accountability and exemplary policing leadership, as well as the renewed commitment to upholding discipline across ranks, as critical steps toward rebuilding public trust and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in supporting modern policing infrastructure and community-based security initiatives.

In his response, the IGP Disu expressed appreciation for the visit and for Lagos State’s consistent support to policing efforts. He reiterated his resolve to prioritize personnel welfare, deepen institutional reforms, and strengthen discipline within the Nigeria Police Force, assuring Nigerians of improved safety and security nationwide.
