Labour Party stalwart in Abia State,Hon Iheanyichukwu Ugochukwu, popularly known as Prince Ugo, has commended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for the fagg-off for the reconstruction of Ohafia Arochukwu Road.
In the words of Chief Dr. David Onuoha Ogba (Bourdex), the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, “The Road leading to Arochukwu have indeed been treacherous, difficult, and at times, seemingly impassable”.
In a statement made available to the media, Prince Ugochukwu said the decision by His Excellency Gov Otti to embark on reconstruction of Trunk A Federal Road is evidence that the governor has an interest of the people at heart.
“Ordinarily, some governors would have hidden under the cover of Federal road to look the other way, while the masses suffer, but our governor seeks permission from the Federal Government to fix the road and when approved, he began the work immediately .”
Prince Ugo further said that when completed, the road will be of immense benefit to the agrarian communities in Arochukwu, Ohafia and the environ as they can easily bring their farm produce to the urban areas mote easily.
In the same breath, Prince Ugo reiterated his call for urgent intervention on the erossion menace. that was gradually cutting agrarian communities in Oba Amaewu Amamba Uzuakoli and the environ.
” Sometime ago, I appealed to Governor Otti on the condition of Amaewu Amamba in Uzuakoli. Uptill the moment, nothing has been done. Many houses and arable farmlands have been consumed by the erosion. I once again called on the governor to come to the aid of the community by urgently checking the encroachment of erosion and reclaiming of lands devastated by the menace.
“I urge Ndi Abia to continue to give their undivided support to the governor as he delivered good governance to the good people of Abia State.”He concludes.
