In an exciting development for the future of Nigerian politics, the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC) has announced that the Labour Party has begun a major strengthening initiative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The National Spokesperson for LPPMC, Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu, made the disclosure during a press conference held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Thursday.
He stated that the group is committed to engaging with the democratic process, while upholding the principles of the rule of law and the constitution.
The primary concern of the LPPMC, according to him, is the nation’s well-being, and they are dedicated to ensuring that credible individuals with character are elected into office not only in subsequent elections but, most importantly, in 2027.
“Our primary concern is the well-being of the nation, and we remain committed to ensuring that credible individuals with character are elected into office in subsequent elections and, more importantly, in 2027” he said..
He also acknowledged that the Labour Party is facing challenges, mainly attributed to a lack of transparency and effective leadership at various levels within the party. These challenges have led to internal divisions that pose a threat to party unity, he said.
To overcome these challenges, the Southwest Coordinator of LPPMC, Folu Badamosi, also explained that party members are working tirelessly to rebuild the Labour Party’s foundation.
He stated that despite being the third recognised party in the National Assembly, the Labour Party is in need of strengthening, saying “What we are doing now is to strengthen that foundation and ensure that the structure will be long-lasting.”
Looking towards the future, Badamosi expressed hope for a brighter Nigeria, where citizens actively participate in nation-building. He stressed that the Labour Party aims to change the narrative and urged the populace to rally around the party as a political entity that seeks to positively transform the nation.
