LP Announces New Directorate for Obidient Family, Ngogbehai, Elumelu, Osusote, Others To Oversee Activities
From Idu Jude, Abuja
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has announced the appointment of 10 credible members of the Obidient family to oversee the newly created Obidient Directorate. This directorate will form an integral part of the Labour Party for greater purpose.
Recall that the National Chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, during a recent world press briefing, promised the integration of the Obidient family into the Labour Party to address grievances being expressed by its members.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Obiora Ifo, in a press statement on Thursday, said that the decision was taken to address such grievances “as part of the repositioning efforts of the Labour Party towards integrating millions of our youths, particularly, the Obidient family into the larger family of the Labour Party”.
To that effect, ten members of the Obidients family have been appointed to pilot the affairs of the ‘Obidient Directorate’. Members of the Directorate include:
Mr. Marcel Ngogbehei – Director
Ambassador Aju Elumelu – Director (Diaspora)
Mrs Mariam Ismaila – Deputy Director
Mr. Chukwuemeka Gerald Okafor – Deputy Director
Mr. Adeyeye Tosin – Deputy Director
Mrs Angel Innocent – Deputy Director
Mr Tony Ashekomeh Jnr – Deputy Director
Mr Emeka Ezechi – Deputy Director
Mr Josiah Omenuwoma – Deputy Director
Mr Emmanuel Odusote – Deputy Director
According to Ifo, the Directorate’s terms of reference include easing Diaspora participation in the affairs of the party. It will also receive complaints and deal with them; if unable to resolve them, they will refer such complaints to the leadership of the party.
The Secretariat also coordinates the collection of dues and donations to the party and ensures that all Obidients are financial members of the party.
The Directorate, which will be officially inaugurated soon, is also to work closely with the National Youth Leader, National Women Leader, and National Organizing Secretary to create programs that will fully and effectively assimilate all members of the Obidient family into the party.
