The Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Professor Sam Egwu, has applauded the peaceful ongoing by- election in Guma Local Government Area of the state.
The REC said the exercise did not only began on time at 8:30am as planned by the commission but that all the procedures were being followed for a successful exercise.
“We have complied with all the processes. So far, there are no complains from any quarters,” he said.
The INEC Commissioner though observed a low turnout of voters, however said it was too early to conclude since the exercise would end by 2:30pm.
He appreciated the level of security presence at all the polling units where the exercise was being conducted.
Meanwhile, our correspondent observed a low turnout of voters at some of the polling units visited as voters were still strolling in in small numbers hours after the voting commenced.
