A Lagos-based company, Advance Lincon Limited, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN); and several human rights organisations over an alleged attempt to forcefully seize its Lekki property.

The company accused suspected land grabbers, allegedly aided by compromised security operatives and hoodlums, of harassment, criminal trespass, threats and attempts to illegally take over its property located at Block 69H, Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, Lagos.

According to the petition, the disputed property is covered by a valid Certificate of Occupancy and has had a registered title since 2014.

In the petition, dated May 14 and titled, ‘Attempt to Use Police, Hoodlums and State Power to Illegally Grab Prime Lekki Property,’ signed by the company’s solicitor, Akinlabi Apara Esq. Advance Lincon Limited, alleged that armed individuals acting under the guise of another firm, Lincoln Advanced Radiology Service Limited, had been terrorising the lawful owners of the property.

The company described the entity as suspicious, noting that it was only incorporated in 2023, while allegedly laying claim to a property owned by Advance Lincon Limited for over a decade.

The petition further alleged that despite a subsisting court order directing all parties to maintain the status quo, pending determination of the matter, the alleged trespassers had continued to interfere with the property with reckless impunity.

The firm also claimed that some police officers had abandoned their constitutional responsibilities and were allegedly aiding the suspected land grabbers in intimidating legitimate property owners.

It warned that the trend posed a serious threat to investment, public peace and the rule of law in Lagos State.

“We urgently seek the intervention of the Inspector-General of Police before the matter degenerates into violence and a complete breakdown of law and order,” the petition stated.
