LASG partners CIG Motors to set up vehicle assembly plant, start taxi scheme

The executive governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the official joint venture between the Lagos State Government and CIG Motors Company Limited, towards establishing a world-class Motor Vehicle Assembly Plant in Ogba, Lagos State.

The event, which took place on Thursday, 4th of March 2021, also witnessed the official commissioning of the first 1,000 cars for the new transport (taxi) scheme known as “LagosRide.”

Mr Abiodun Amokomowo, CEO of Ibile Holdings Limited, who represented Lagos State Government, and Dr. Linus Idahosa, vice chairman of CIG Motors, who represented CIG Motors Co. Limited, put forward the legal agreement for the establishment of the automobile plant.

While Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Chief Diana Chen, chairman of CIG Motors, led the guests to the unveiling of the automobiles comprising the GAC GS3 (Mini-SUV) that will kick off the initial phase of the new LagosRide project.

Chief Diana closed the event by emphasising the mission of GAC Motors, and the promise of a mobile Lagos through the new venture.
