There was a large turn out of voters in some parts of Ogun State as voting commenced across the southwestern state.
In some polling units monitored in the Abeokuta metropolis, the Ogun State capital, as early as 7.45am, eligible voters have begun to troop out to begin the accreditation and other election processes.
At the Abeokuta South Maternity Centre Poling Unit 10, Ward 15, Oke-Ilewo, voters were set to cast their votes as soon as they were accredited.
At the Zenith Bank Poling Unit, Isale Igbehin Area of Abeokuta, voting has also commenced in a peaceful and orderly manner. It was the same situation at the Ake Ward 1 Unit One, located inside the St. Peter Cathedral, Ake, where voters commenced voting at exactly 8.30am.
Generally, the turn out of voters was impressive as many were still tricking into their respective poling units.
Combined security teams were fully on ground to forestall break down of law and order.
Meanwhile, card readers malfunctioned in some polling units, but people were allowed to vote after undergoing manual accreditation by thumb printing in front of their names in the voters register.
As at 9.10am, INEC officials were yet to arrive with election materials at polling units in Totoro Area, Abeokuta, where former President Olusegun Obasanjo is expected to vote.
