Lagos to host maiden Africa’s economic transformation summit

Stakeholders across government, business, and development sectors are set to converge in Lagos for the maiden edition of the African Business & Leadership Summit (ABLS 2026), a continental initiative aimed at fostering stronger collaboration to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation.

Chief Executive Officer of Solid Foundation Estates Limited and convener of the summit, Adetoun Otepola, said the initiative was conceived to deepen collaboration among governments, businesses and institutions committed to reshaping Africa’s economic future through innovation and strategic leadership.

The summit will hold from May 12 to 13 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, under the theme, “Driving Africa’s Growth Through Innovation, Strategic Leadership and Collaboration.”

The organisers said the summit was designed to serve as a high-level platform for policymakers, investors, business leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and development institutions to engage in discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation, unlocking investment opportunities and promoting sustainable growth across the continent.

According to her, the summit would provide opportunities for policy dialogue, business networking, knowledge exchange and investment partnerships capable of driving long-term economic development across Africa.

The organisers disclosed that discussions at the summit would focus on critical sectors, including infrastructure, real estate, governance, technology, healthcare, education, aviation, trade and the creative economy.

They added that the event would also feature exhibitions showcasing investment opportunities, innovative solutions and products from government agencies, multinational corporations, financial institutions, startups and development organisations.

It was disclosed that Lagos was selected as the host city due to its strategic role as one of Africa’s leading commercial and innovation hubs, supported by its expanding technology ecosystem, ports, international airports and vibrant creative industry.

The organisers said the summit is expected to attract participants from more than 70 countries, alongside exhibitors, strategic partners and speakers from various industries.

They called on stakeholders across the public and private sectors to leverage the platform to build partnerships and contribute to conversations aimed at shaping Africa’s next phase of economic growth and continental competitiveness.
