Lagos Hoteliers Association (LHA) has set an agenda for the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as he braces for his inauguration on May 29. The hoteliers made this known in a congratulatory message to the governor signed by the President, Oluomo Jamiu Talabi and general secretary, Prince Robert Obire. The union, whose agenda was highlighted into various part, was keen on members interest and ideology capable of promoting the association. The association also congratulated the governor on his victory in the March 18 governorship polls in the state.
“We urged you to streamline functions of different ministries, departments and agencies to avoid duplication of tasks and functions. We also seek the elimination of multiple taxation, reduction of the rates of levies demanded by different units.
‘LHA will be glad to see members facing consolidation of all the different taxes and levies to be paid. It will be a welcome idea if payment should be by instalment within the tax year. We are also hoping for provision of adequate soft loans for our members to improve and expand business will be considered,” the statement said.
The body further said the inclusion of its president and state general secretary as members of the State Tourism Board would go a long way in promoting the state.
“As responsible citizens of the state, our members must be treated with civility by agencies and the use of security personnel to threaten and harass members must be eradicated. Duo process must be followed in sealing the premises of our members who default in payment or infringe on the law.
‘We are positive that implementation of the above charter of demand will lead to a mutually beneficial relationship between the government and the association,” the statement added.
