Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Dayo Lajide, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to the health and productivity of civil servants following an inspection tour of the Folarin Coker Staff Clinic at the State Secretariat, Alausa.
She said staff clinic remains a vital component of government’s strategy to safeguard the wellbeing of its workforce. According to her, access to healthcare services at the clinic has been made free for civil servants through the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“The purpose of this visit is to see how our staff are being taken care of and to ensure that services are delivered efficiently. Services here are free, and we encourage our staff to enroll in ILERA EKO, the state’s health insurance scheme,” she said.
Lajide described the clinic as comprehensive and staff-friendly, listing services such as dental care, eye clinic services, general outpatient care, physiotherapy, laboratory investigations, lying wards and pharmacy services. She stressed that improved access to quality healthcare would ultimately enhance productivity across the public service.
The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that the facility operates a fully paperless Electronic Medical Records system, a development she said has improved efficiency, confidentiality and continuity of care.
“We don’t use paper records here anymore. The clinic runs entirely on electronic medical records, which enhances service delivery and ensures proper documentation and follow-up,” she noted.

She explained that while minor ailments are promptly managed at the clinic, more complex medical cases are referred seamlessly to the state’s general hospitals, assuring workers that their wellbeing remains a priority for the government.
Earlier, the Director of Staff Health Services, Dr. Abdulrasheed Kolade, said the directorate was established to safeguard and promotes the wellbeing of Lagos State public servants and operates from the centrally located Folarin Coker Staff Clinic within the Secretariat.
Kolade described the facility as a one-stop shop for the state workforce, providing emergency care, oral health services, ophthalmology in collaboration with the Blindness Prevention Programme, physiotherapy, laboratory diagnostics including digital X-ray, pharmacy and ambulance services.
He added that beyond curative care, the clinic places strong emphasis on preventive and lifestyle services aimed at reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases. These include annual medical screenings, cancer screenings, nutritional counselling, health education, family planning and services offered by the Lagos State Wellness Centre, which provides mental health and stress management support.
“When our public servants thrive, Lagos thrives,” Kolade said.
Health workers at the clinic expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as morale boosting and encouraging, while pledging continued dedication to delivering quality and timely healthcare services. The Folarin Coker Staff Clinic remains a strategic component of the state’s health architecture, supporting the machinery of government by ensuring that its workforce remains healthy, resilient and productive in advancing the vision of a greater Lagos.
