The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a little girl, Omole Taiwo, and the injury of another child after an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Omotayo Olajide, allegedly discharged his firearm in the Nosamu area of Ajegunle.
The incident occurred last Thursday, November 5, 2026, between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Preliminary findings showed that the police officer had been deployed to the area following a distress call over a violent clash between two rival groups, the Nosamu Boys and the Alayabiagba Boys, reportedly fighting over toll collection.
The groups were said to have been armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons. During the operation, ASP Olajide allegedly discharged his firearm, with the bullet hitting the two girls.
The victims were immediately rushed to Ajeromi General Hospital for treatment. One of them was later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where she subsequently died.
The other girl is receiving medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.
