Boyi Solomon Nyango delivered a standout performance at the Lagos City Marathon, storming through as the first Nigerian man to cross the finish line in this year’s edition of the prestigious road race, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nyango clocked an impressive time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 32 seconds (2:25:32), showcasing endurance, tactical discipline and mental strength across the demanding 42.195km course.

The long-distance runner maintained a steady pace from the early stages of the race, positioning himself strategically among the leading pack before making his decisive push in the latter stages.

His effort ensured he finished ahead of his compatriots, earning the honour of being the first Nigerian male athlete home in the 2026 edition.

The Lagos City Marathon, one of Africa’s biggest road races, continues to attract elite and amateur runners from across the globe, with Nigerian athletes keen to assert their presence against strong international competition.
