Christians all over the World trooped out in large number to observe Palm Sunday to mark the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem over two thousand years ago.

In Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, Christians converge on Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin around eight o clock this morning for prayers and the procession which lasted over five hours.

The procession which kicked off from Saint Barnabas Cathedral passed through Maraba, Amilegbe, Ipata, Opo-Malu, part of Emir`s road, Taiwo Isale, Unity road Post Office and terminate at the starting point for benediction.

Another batch of Christians took off at First Baptist Church, Surulere through the State General Hospital, Upper Taiwo road and link up with other Christians at Taiwo road for onward movement to Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo-Oke.

Addressing the Congregation, the Vice Chairman,  the Kwara State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ademola Popoola emphasised the importance of Palm Sunday which he stated signify humility, care and love for one another.

Pastor Popoola explained that Nigerians should always thinks of the Nation and work for its progress.

He noted that the people should always pray for the leaders emphasising that think would be better for the Nation

Also speaking, the Minister in charge of First ECWA, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, Reverend Babatomiwa Owojaiye urged the people to embrace peace and oneness.

The Secretary of the Women Wings of CAN, WOWICAN, Deaconess Felicia Adebayo and  Evangelist Florence Babarinsa stressed the need for Christians to live one another and be humble.

The participants held palm fronds singing and dancing glorifying God for His mercy and protection over their lives.

The Palm Sunday proceed activities marking the Easter celebrations which will continue with the observation of the Passion Week, Good Friday, and Easter Monday next week.

Palm Sunday is a commemoration of Jesus Christ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, coming in peace and riding on a donkey as recorded in the Scripture.
