Kuje Prison escapee, one other arrested for theft in Nasarawa

In a recent development, the Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected motorcycle thieves in the Nasarawa Local Government Area.

Zubairu Ali, aged 27, and Salisu Buhari, aged 24, were apprehended by police operatives in a sting operation on April 6th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm.

According to the police public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel in a press release sent to journalist on Sunday in Lafia said the suspects are believed to be responsible for several motorcycle snatching and theft incidents that have occurred in Nasarawa LGA and surrounding areas.

During the initial investigation, Salisu Buhari confessed to having escaped from Kuje Prison during an attack on the facility last year, after which he connected with his partner-in-crime to engage in criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Maiyaki Baba, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for a comprehensive investigation. This move underscores the command’s commitment to ensuring that criminals are brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law.

The Nasarawa State Police Command is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station or through the emergency phone numbers provided.

The public is also reminded that the command will continue to work tirelessly to safeguard lives and property in the state. it added.
