A teamsheet cannot prove that the eight were chosen to close a game or to open it, or that a regular player was parked for rest. Those claims need a coach or team statement.

Two Different Names Out of the Sheet

A regular player who is omitted from the 23 is an omission. A regular player on the list of the replacements is a selection. Omission does not always mean rest or an injury. It may stand for tactics, form, rotation, return management, or even a squad choice specific to the competition. A player on the list of replacements is not resting.
