Gunmen suspected to be members of Greenland Cult loyal to one ‘General Crocodile’, last Saturday night, invaded the Olokuma community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, abducted and reportedly killed three male residents.
Daily Sun gathered that the body of one of the male victims has been recovered, while efforts were on to recover the bodies of the other two.
An anonymous community source revealed that the attack by the suspected cultists was a reprisal by the armed gang that has been in disarray due to unrelenting onslaught against cultism and other violent crimes by the Rivers State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The community source disclosed that the attack and reported killing of the suspected police informants by the gang members was to instil fear among the natives and, also, a calculated attempt by the hoodlums to discourage residents and natives from cooperating with the police and other security agents on areas of intelligence and information sharing. The state police command was yet to confirm the attack and killing of three people.
Meanwhile, the Civil Military Police Paramilitary Relations (CIMPARR) has condemned the killing. Coordinator of the group, Green Isaac, urged the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to redeem the N100 million bounty placed on David Gift, popularly known as 2baba.
He said: “I am calling on the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, to redeem the N100 million pledge as a bounty on the head of David Gift, a.k.a 2Baba. 2Baba has been brought down; the governor should please redeem the pledge.
It has been about 60 days since 2Baba was brought down and nothing has happened. This pledge has become necessary following reports that armed gangs are now targeting informants who may have been very useful in giving the police useful information to help them work in the community.
“When bounties like this are placed and they are not given to informants, it becomes an issue.We are pleading with the governor to release the sum.”
On April 8, 2024, the Rivers State Police Command announced the killing of two loyalists of Ikem ThankGod, ‘General’ 2Man of the Greenland Cult group during a raid on his camp in Ahoada West LGA. On March 26, David Izuma, a.k.a ‘General’ Solution of Greenland Cult group was also neutralised by the police in Ahoada West LGA. On February 17, 2024, David Gift, a.k.a ‘General’ 2Baba, an Iceland cult kingpin, was neutralised by the police in Ahoada East. On January 28, Silas Oderereke, a.k.a ‘General’ Odereke of Greenland cult group was killed in Ahoada West LGA by the police.
