Kerosene explosion has killed an-11-year old girl, Makuochukwu Nkwunabo, at Ndiagu, Ogidiani Etiti village, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that Kerosene which was suspected to have been adulterated exploded when the girl wanted to light up a lamp when it was getting dark.

According to the father of the deceased, Mr. Nwoye Nkwunabo, “the kerosene was bought about four days ago and kept until today when my daughter went to pour some into the lantern.

“As she struck a match, there was an explosion; subsequently flame enveloped the apartment.

“She passed out instantly but we rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead because of severe burns and suffocation.

“I urge Governor Willie Obiano and other good-spirited individuals to come to my rescue by assisting me as I am helpless; she was the third child of the family,” Nkwunabo stated.

Our correspondent reports that sympathizers gathered to consoled the family while others went to apprehend the seller of the kerosene to stop it from killing more people.
