Kebbi to reconstruct burnt market with N2b

The Kebbi State Government has signed a N2 billion contract agreement with a Dubai-based construction company for the re-construction of the Kebbi State Central Market which was razed by fire last year.

The company is called Bilal African Limited company.

While signing the agreement on behalf of the state government, Commissioner of Land and Housing, Alhaji Abubakar Jika Ladan, said that the re-construction of central market was as result of fire outbreak that gutted the market last year May 15, 2016.

He added that the government was ready to provide the alternative place for the traders to ensure the smooth business.

He explained that the reconstruction of the market would cost about N2 billion, with 812 additional shops to be constructed.

“We are going to utilised the remaining land and also the security office there, the life span of the work is 12 month” he added.

In his remarked, the MD of Bilal African LTD Mr. Benet Sarang thank the Kebbi State Government for partner with them, assured them that the work would be completed at the stipulated time.
