The National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS) has elected their national executive at it 2025 national convention where Ahijo Saidu Bakiwai emerged as National President.
While Bakiwai from Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) got 29 votes,his closer rival,Anas Umar Faruq from KSUSTA garnered 27 votes and the third presidential candidate,Shahabihe Galadima recorded zero vote.
The election,which was held at the premises of the Kebbi State School of Nursing Science, Birnin Kebbi with delegates from higher institutions across Nigeria freely elected their new leaders and
monitored by security agencies.
While declaring the results,the Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee ,Ahmad Jafaar ,a student of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto(UDUS),declared that Ahijo Saidu Bukiwai elected as the President with 29 votes and defeated the runner up,Anas Umar Faruq who got 27 votes while the third Presidential Candidate, Galadima got zero.
He added that there were two invalid votes out of the 58 votes casted for the Presidential Candidates.
He also declared that Balkisu Malami Isah got 43 votes to click the position of Vice-President 1 and defeated her closer rival, Khadija Haliru who got 14 votes.
Jafaar also declared Musa Muhammad Musa as the winner for the position of Vice – President 2 with 34 votes which was unopposed, while Muhammad Abdullahi Kwazo elected as the Union’s Secretary General with 42 votes and defeated his co- contestant,Muhammad Samaila Aliero who secured 11 votes.
Similarly, Yakubu Isah Tsamiya got 27 votes to narrowly defeated his co- contestant,Atiku Bello Dakingari who got 26 votes.
Other results declared by the Convention Planning Committee Chairman includes, Treasurer which was won by Aliyu Sani who got 29 votes while Isah Saadu secured 26 votes.
However, candidates who were returned unopposed to the positions of Director Women Affairs, Financial Secretary,Welfare Director were Fauziyya Musa Koko,Yusuf Ibrahim Bagudo and Lukman Yusuf.
Jafaar declared that remaining positions such as Director Protocol, Publicity Secretary, Liaison Officer and Auditor General were not contested for.
