Legal practitioners and mediators have offered to give free and subsidized mediation sessions for residents of the Federal Capital Territory whose families are involved in workplace and commercial disputes outside formal legal procedures.

Tagged “the Abuja Settlement Week”, the programme is organized by the Abuja branch of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) in collaboration with the Abuja Multi-Door Court House.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, the Chairperson, Abuja Settlement Week Sterling Committee, Mrs. Miriam Kombo-Ezeh, said the event slated for July 7th to 11th, would feature free as well as subsidized mediation sessions for the general public in various areas of disputes including, family, workplace, land, commercial, among others.

In addition, the programme, organized under the auspices of the Chief Judge of the FCT, will deploy trained neutrals for court-referred and work-in cases, while also showcasing awareness activities to educate the public on the benefits of mediation, engagement with communities, professionals, and justice sector stakeholders.

The programme aims to reaffirm the judiciary’s commitment to promoting access to justice and peaceful co-existence across the FCT
