The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kebbi State, have taken it 2024 first phase free medical outreach to Gwade Fingila village,Dandi Local Government Area of the state.
The programme which was conducted in the village by Corps Medical Doctors,was the free health initiative programme designed by the NYSC to carry out Medical outreach in rural communities.
According to the scheme, the Corps Members render free medical services to residents within a rural community for each quarter of the year.
The third exercise is a programme conducted nationwide in fulfilment of one of the NYSC Director General administration’s policy thrusts which is to deepen the impact of NYSC on rural development through Community Development Services.
While flagging off the programme, the NYSC Kebbi State Coordinator, Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki, explained the importance of exercise and how it has been helpful to Rual Communities that lack access to Medical facilities and services.
She said: “I want to urge the people of the community to use this opportunity to check up their Medical Status. NYSC does not only care about the well-being of Corps Members, but also cares for the people of their host communities.”
Banki disclosed that the programme which was the 1st phase of the year has been designed to provide free and timely Health care intervention for Rural Dwellers especially those who lack access to basic health care amenities due to their locations and financial capabilities.
She commended the patriotism and resilience of Corps Members which resulted in the tremendous successes recorded since the inception of the NYSC free health programme.
She urged stakeholders to intensify efforts and supporting the programme in the state.
In his remark,the Village Head of Fingila Gwade II, Mallam Ibrahim Gero Commended the NYSC for being friendly to the voiceless people of the Gwade Fingila II Community and also thanked the NYSC for chosen his community worthy of benefitting from the health initiative.
The team consisted of Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, medical laboratory Scientists, Nurses and other health professionals who carried out free medical checks on the people of the Fingila community ranging from malaria, diabetics tests, checking blood pressure and distribution of free drugs.
Highlight of the event was Health talk on personal hygiene by Corps Doctor Mubarak Bawa KB/23C/0724 and sensitisation on breast and cervical cancer my Mr Jummai Ayuba Manman.
