Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti is seeking increased revenue allocation from the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) for Abia to enable the State develop the more.

This is even as Aba Union, the Apex socio-cultural body of the old Aba Division have vowed to support the Governor and ensure he is reelected in 2027.

Governor Otti made the request when he received in audience a delegation led by the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at RMAFC, Mrs. Nkechi Otti who called on him.

Mrs.Otti and her team were in Abia to hand over reports on her findings after her familiarisation visit and stakeholders engagements in the State, to the Governor.

Otti said an increase from the Federal revenue allocation would help the State to execute many of its projects, adding that he has demonstrated financial discipline, an attitude that distinguished Abia State in the report of the Debt Management Office (DMO), recently released.

“Anything you can do to help us increase our Federal allocation will be very much appreciated by your State and by the government. Once again, thank you for the report. I will take my time and read through it.

“We have a lot of things on our hands. If we get more money to be able to execute them, why not? Particularly, we have also shown financial discipline.

“I am sure you may have seen the report that came out last week, which shows that our State has done well in terms of reduction of debt.”

The Federal Commissioner had earlier told the Governor she was in the State for a familiarisation visit, having been appointed into office few months ago.

Meanwhile, members of Aba Union have vowed to support Governor Otti and ensure he is reelected in 2027.

Speaking at a meeting with the Governor, the first Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Abia State, Chief Theo Nkire and the President of Aba Union, Eze Love Nwogu told the Governor they were proud of him as their son and assured him of their unalloyed support for his reelection in 2027, having performed beyond their imagination.

They confessed they did not support Otti in 2023, but having now seen his good works, which is undeniable, they have resolved as a people, group and bloc to stand solidly with him, saying that with their support, the Governor would not have any opponent.

They described the Governor’s achievements as unparalleled, confirming he has performed more than his predecessors.

Responding, Otti, apart from telling the people the number of roads in their area his government has reconstructed, informed them that the country home of one the foremost leaders from Ngwaland, late Chief Jaja Nwachukwu was undergoing renovation by his government.

He told them he would organize a posthumous birthday for the late elder statesman on January 1, 2026.
