Kebbi NYSC: 2 dead, 11 faces disciplinary measures as 1, 507 pass out

Two members of the National Youth Corps Service (NYSC) Batch A, stream II, serving in Kebbi State, died during the one year mandatory services in the state as 1,507 successfully passed out.

Of the 1, 507 corps members that successfully completed the programme, on Thursday, in a low-key ceremony, 1,022 were male while 485 were female.

The scheme also disciplined 11 corps members for various offences, coomprising seven male and four female corps members.

The passing out ceremonies were held concurrently across all zonal offices of the scheme in the state.

The state’s Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Lawal Turawa, while addressing members at Birnin-Kebbi Zonal office urged them to be good ambassadors of their parents and the scheme.

Turawa, represented by the  Assistant Director, Disciplines and Reward, Mr. Olajide Moses said: “On behalf of NYSC, I want to urge you all to be a good ambassador of your parents, NYSC in wherever you found yourself.

“Don’t join yahoo yahoo. Don’t departed on sour note. You must maintain good relationship with one another because you don’t know who among you can be of help for each other in future.

” Please don’t adopt fast lane to success , it is not good. Rome was not built-in a day. You know,if you rush eating hot soup, your mouth will be hurt. Therefore,always take a good and right path to success so that it could last forever”.

The state’s NYSC coordinator also advised them to utilise vocational skills they learnt during their service year instead of waiting for government jobs stressed that those that acquired fashion design would be better off than road side tailors with their experience.

He warned them against travelling to their various destinations during the night for their safety and to avoid evils of the night.
