Kebbi NAFDAC engages stakeholders on good storage, distribution practices

The National Agency for Food,Drug and Administration Control (NAFDAC) Kebbi State office has engaged stakeholders in the state on the need to ensure good distribution and storage practices in their food warehouses, general stores and supermarkets.

 

Kebbi State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Alh. Muyideen F. Suleiman while addressing the stakeholders at a sensitization workshop organized by the agency in collaboration with the market Associations Kebbi State branch at a stakeholder’s engagement to ensure Good distribution, storage and handling of food practices in the state, stated that the discussion would also centered on the good kitchen hygiene and food handling practices for restaurants and fast food outlets.

Suleiman who highlighted the dangers and risk associated with the poor distribution, storage and handling of food products in the state inline with the Agency’s guidelines and policies, cautioned them to avoid any act that will contradict NAFDAC regulations on the sales, distribution and storage of food products as violators will be fully sanctioned in accordance with the Agency’s guidelines.

According to him, “we are also soliciting  for  the cooperation of all stakeholders to join hand with NAFDAC in Combating the menace of the sales of unregistered, fake, expired, damaged and unwholesome food products in the state”.

The chairman Market Association in Kebbí State, Alh, Jamilu commended NAFDAC for their efforts in bringing them together for discussion,promised to further sensitize all the traders that were not in attendance as well as assuring NAFDAC of their continued cooperation.

 

Other speakers at the event including Mr. Ahmad Aliyu Aji (ACRO) presented papers on Good storage and distribution practices in food warehouses,general stores and super markets while Mr. Saadu Dauda (ACRO) also presented a paper on the good kitchen hygiene and food handling practices for restaurants and quick services/ast food outlets among others.
