Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have attacked a mosque, killing five Muslim worshippers and injuring three others in an attack believed to be a reprisal following a failed ambush on the convoy of a Nigerian Army General Officer Commanding (GOC).
It was gathered that the attackers stormed the Dadinkowa community mosque in Maiyama Local Government Area on Wednesday night while congregational evening prayers were ongoing and opened fire on the worshippers.
When contacted, the Kebbi Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the attack.

He said, “Yes, it’s true, sir. The terrorists targeted the mosque in retaliation for their earlier military defeat.”
The PPRO confirmed that five worshippers died from the gunshot wounds sustained in the attack, while three others suffered different degrees of injuries and were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
It could be recalled that on February 24, 2026, when the GOC, 8 Division, and Commander, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj.-Gen. Bemgha Koughna, was on routine checking on soldiers on the frontline, his convoy came under attack, and five suspected Lakurawa terrorists were neutralised by his team.
