The Kebbi State government has included a proposal in the 2025 budget to construct a new indoor stadium with a capacity of 6,000 seats.
The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nura Figilla, revealed this during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Unity Challenge Cup, organised by philanthropist Abdullahi Khairullahi Jega. The tournament is sponsored by the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Idris.
Speaking on the state’s sports facilities, Figilla said, “If you look at the FIFA Mini Stadium at Goru, it is one of the best in the Northwest of Nigeria. We have profiled the new stadium, which will accommodate not less than 5,000 to 6,000 participants. His Excellency has included it in the 2025 budget, and it is going to be an indoor stadium.

“We have it in the 2025 budget plan. It will definitely materialise and be available for us,” he stated.
Figilla explained that the purpose of organising the tournament was to unite youths from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state and showcase their skills and talents.
The organiser of the tournament, Alhaji Abdullahi Khairullahi Jega, explained that he initiated the event to encourage and unite the youths of the state through football, a global game.
