The Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has approved the sum of N585,416,690 for the tuition fees of 100 students studying in various universities.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Tunga, confirmed this while briefing newsmen at the Ministry of Higher Education headquarters, Birnin Kebbi.

Tunga said: “The Kebbi State Government, under the able leadership of His Excellency Comr. Dr Nasir Idris, the Education Promoter, has approved and released the payment of tuition fees of N585,416,690.00 for the 100 students of Kebbi State indigenes studying in various universities in India.

“The Ministry for Higher Education remains indebted to His Excellency Comr. Dr Nasir Idris. No doubt, the efforts of His Excellency towards promoting academic and moral excellence in the tertiary education sector shall go into the annals of history.

“The Kebbi State Ministry for Higher Education implores the entire citizens of Kebbi State to continue to pray for the continued success of this administration in both their individual and collective prayers. Isa Abubakar Tunga, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education.”

He added that the 25 students studying in Egyptian universities, under the scholarship of the Egyptian Government, would receive their accommodation, feeding, and other necessities money immediately upon the Governor’s return to the state.
