Wife of Kebbi State governor, Hajia Zainab Nasir Idris has declared support for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on its ongoing war against drug abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs.
Idris made the declaration when she received a delegation of the Commander of the NDLEA and his entourage at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. She also called for a formidable partnership that will secure the state against the menace of drug abuse. She explained her decision to adopt drug abuse as a flagship project “to address the alarming problem of drug abuse in communities and assured of the support of her office for the NDLEA. Earlier, the state commander of NDLEA, Sulaiman Usman had urged parents and guardians to imbibe the culture of early detection of drug addiction by consulting the agency when they noticed strange attitude in their children. Sulaiman said the aim of the visit was to congratulate the first family on the successful inauguration into office, and to also inform the governor’s wife of the need to prioritise and adopt drug abuse as a project “to address the alarming problem of drug abuse in the state.”
