Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has condemned the killing of the village head of Lafagu community in Bagudo Local Government Area, Alhaji Saidu Mujeli, and residents of Kaoje and Buya communities by suspected terrorists and described the incident as barbaric and disturbing.
The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, and made available to newsmen, expressed profound sadness over the incident and other security-related developments reported around Kaoje, particularly in Lafagu and Buya communities, which resulted in the loss of lives and displacement of residents.
Governor Idris assured the affected communities that his administration is working closely with security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attacks and ensure that they face the full consequences of the law.
Idris disclosed that arrangements were being intensified with the relevant security agencies to strengthen security operations in the affected areas and protect the lives and property of residents.
According to him, “I received with profound sadness and deep concern the unfortunate incidents that occurred around Kaoje, particularly in the Lafagu and Buya communities, which resulted in the loss of lives, including the death of the village head of Lafagu, Alhaji Saidu Mujeli. May Allah SWT forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus,” the governor said.
“On behalf of myself, my family and the good people of Kebbi State, I extend my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the people around Kaoje, particularly the families of those who lost their loved ones and all those affected by this unfortunate situation. May Allah grant the deceased Al-Jannatul Firdaus and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss,” he said.
The governor also commiserated with the District Head of Kaoje, Alhaji Mustapha Usman Kaoje, and the Sarkin Yamma of Kaoje, Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar Kaoje, over the losses suffered by their subjects and the difficult circumstances confronting the affected communities.
He assured them that the state government would continue to provide the necessary logistics and support to security agencies while strengthening ongoing efforts to restore peace and security to the affected areas.

Governor Idris also extended his condolences to the Honourable Member representing Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency, Alhaji Bello A. Kaoje, the Chairman of Bagudo Local Government, as well as political, traditional and community leaders affected by the unfortunate development.
The governor expressed particular concern for residents who had been forced to abandon their homes, farmlands, businesses and other means of livelihood as a result of the insecurity.
Idris assured them that his administration is working with security agencies to create the conditions necessary for their safe return and the restoration of normal economic and social activities.
He said the government would continue to support security agencies in their operations and intensify efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability across the affected communities.
Governor Idris urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, peaceful and law-abiding, while calling on community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing relevant information that could assist ongoing efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to protecting the lives and property of the people of Kebbi State, stressing that the government would continue to take all necessary measures within its powers to restore lasting peace and security in the affected areas.
The governor prayed Almighty Allah to forgive those who lost their lives, grant them Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and bring comfort, peace and tranquillity to their families and the affected communities.
