- Says emphasis will be on infrastructure development, people empowerment

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has presented the 2024 appropriation bill of N250,134,081,757.01 kobo before the House of Assembly.
Idris who tagged the budget,”budget of infrastructure development and People’s empowerment”, disclosed that recurrent expenditure would gulps N90,640,286,421.53 kobo while capital expenditure would be N159,493,895,335.48 Kobo.
He disclosed that, under the recurrent expenditure,personnel costs would be N35,961,467,843.98 Kobo while overhead cost would gulps N54,678,818,557.55.
According to him, “in the proposed revenues, statutory allocation coming from the federation account are estimated in the sum of N79,254,269,350 . Internal Generated Revenues are estimated in the sum of N18,387,341,791.26.
“The 2024 budget is guided by the strategic objectives of the State Development Plan 2022-2027, which we will revise to a 10-year plan,2024-2034. That plan will improve Governance by focusing on institutional reforms through accountability,rule of law, transparency and efficiency that delivers quality social service delivery to Kebbi State citizens.
“This budget also aims to enhance agriculture and Mineral Resource productivity through access to improved technologies,finance and services to increase income generation and provide food security and poverty reduction.
‘It is also aims to improve the livelihood of youths and women in an inclusive manner through job creation and social economic empowerment that delivers social progress and transformation “.
Idris commended the House of Assembly members for the support given to his administration since he assumed office, stressed that many bills including supplementary budget have been passed by the lawmakers which have impacted positively on the lives of the citizens.
In his remark, the Speaker of the House,Muhammed Usman Ankwai commended the Governor for transforming the state, especially his two wives who have been working hard to reach out to the masses,less privileges to reduce poverty and implement a lot of social programmes among the citizens.
Ankwai urged his members at the house to scrutinise the budget,deliberate on it and pass it timely to sustain January to December budget cycle implementation.
