Kebbi agency, SMEDAN sign MoU to address MSMEs challenges

The Kebbi State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA) and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN)  have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish framework for cooperation and collaboration, to address some challenges faced by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. They signed the agreement at the headquarters of KIPA, Birnin Kebbi. They plan to leverage on expertise and experience to establish MSME tracking system to track, filter and manage Business Management Organisations (BMOs) as well as grade entrepreneurs on the identified key Performance Metrics (KPM).

Speaking at the event, Director General of KIPA, Dr Muhammad Kabir Kamba explained that the collaboration was the outcome of many series of engagements they had in the past. According to him, ‘this partnership will be strategically significant and beneficial to SMEs in the state.This collaboration will be one of the mechanism we are going to use to enhance the capacity of this MoU to facilitate the development of SMEs.   I want to assure you that we are going to work with you to actualize your mandate in Kebbi State, just as we too are going to work hard to achieve our mission, which will translate to economy prosperity in the state.”

In his remark, Kebbi State Coordinator of SMEDAN, Alhaji Abdulkarim Ibrahim disclosed that the signing of the MoU was the first of such agreement the federal agency would enter into with the state agency in the past 11 years.
