Troops from Combat Team 3 stationed in Maraban Maigora, Katsina State, have rescued 10 women and six children who had been held captive by bandits since February 3, 2024.
A military source said that the victims were rescued on Monday, March18, 2024, during a routine patrol at the Rimi community after being held for 46 days by the hoodlums.
The source said that the rescued victims were among the 54 women abducted along Gamji-Dandume road earlier in February.
Reacting to the development, Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, commended the troops for their bravery in the rescue operation.
He reassured the people of his administration’s unwavering commitment in eradicating banditry within the state.
According to the statement, “the rescue of these women and children is a testament to the courage and dedication of our security forces.
“We remain committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to ensure the safety of residents in the state.”
