The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has continued to attract growing national attention following a series of reforms and achievements under the leadership of its Director General, Bldr. Abdurrahman Yahya.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs Unit of KASUPDA, Nuhu Garba Dan-Ayamaka.
According to the statement, the Authority has recently received multiple courtesy visits from urban planning ministries, government agencies, and professional bodies across Nigeria, all seeking to understudy its operational framework and explore areas of collaboration.
Among those who visited KASUPDA are representatives from the Federal Housing Authority, the Jigawa State Ministry of Works and Transport, and the Zamfara State Urban Planning Board.
Other organisations with related mandates, including the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, also held engagements with the Authority.
The statement noted that officials from the visiting delegations said their primary objective was to gain insight into KASUPDA’s processes, particularly its building approval system and broader urban planning strategies.
They added that Kaduna State, historically regarded as a hub of administrative excellence in Northern Nigeria, has made significant strides in urban development.
“The state has gone far in the urban planning sector, and there is much to learn that can help improve operations in our respective states,” the statement quoted one of the delegates as saying.

It further explained that, in addition to hosting external stakeholders, the Director General has intensified internal engagement by chairing meetings with community leaders, professionals, and other stakeholders aimed at addressing planning challenges, resolving disputes, and enhancing the safety of lives and property.
The statement added that Yahya also led KASUPDA’s management team on visits to traditional leaders to seek their advice, support, and cooperation in achieving the Authority’s mandate.
According to Dan-Ayamaka, during the various engagements, the Director General provided an overview of KASUPDA’s evolution from the former Kaduna Capital Development Board (KCDB) to its current structure, highlighting its operations across five departments, supported by multiple units and zonal offices, as well as new initiatives introduced to improve efficiency and service delivery.
He said the Director General reaffirmed KASUPDA’s commitment to collaboration, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainable urban development.
“We remain committed to working in synergy with relevant stakeholders for the benefit of the people and the nation at large,” the statement quoted Yahya as saying.
The Deputy Director noted that stakeholders have commended the Authority’s leadership approach, stressing that inclusive engagement and institutional cooperation remain critical to achieving long-term urban planning goals.
He added that KASUPDA will continue to welcome partnerships and contributions that support its mission of ensuring orderly development and safeguarding lives and property across Kaduna State.
