Northwest University, Kano (NWU), has received an official Toyota Hilux vehicle donated by the Founder of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, in fulfilment of a pledge to support the institution’s leadership and strengthen inter-university collaboration.

The vehicle was formally presented to the Vice Chancellor of NWU, Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero, by a delegation from MAAUN during a ceremony at the university in Kano.

The delegation was led by the President of MAAUN, Prof. Mohammad Israr, and included the Vice President (Administration), Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Senate Member, Dr. Nura Yaro; and Hayatuddeen M. Abdallah of the university’s Corporate Communications Unit.

The donation fulfilled a promise made by Prof. Gwarzo during a recent courtesy visit by the management of Northwest University to him in Abuja, where he pledged to provide an official vehicle for the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the founder, Prof. Israr said the gesture was aimed at strengthening collaboration between MAAUN and Northwest University while enhancing the administrative capacity of the Vice Chancellor’s office.

He reaffirmed Prof. Gwarzo’s commitment to supporting higher education through strategic partnerships, institutional cooperation and investments that promote academic excellence.

Receiving the vehicle, Prof. Bayero expressed appreciation to the MAAUN founder for fulfilling his promise, describing the donation as another demonstration of his generosity and unwavering commitment to the advancement of education.

She recalled that Prof. Gwarzo had previously donated a luxury bus to the university and provided other forms of support aimed at improving its operations and academic development.

The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that the MAAUN founder had pledged to assist Northwest University in accessing international grants and other opportunities to strengthen research, teaching and institutional growth.

Also speaking, the Registrar of Northwest University said the visit had opened new opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions, including the possible establishment of a joint academic and research centre.

He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon Prof. Gwarzo and the entire MAAUN community for their continued support of educational development.

The university’s Bursar also commended the donation, describing the vehicle as a valuable addition that would enhance the efficiency of the Vice Chancellor’s office.

The donation further reflects the growing partnership between MAAUN and Northwest University, with both institutions expressing readiness to deepen cooperation in research, academic exchange, staff development and other mutually beneficial initiatives.
