The Nigeria Police in Kano have expressed its determination to deal with any group or individual that undermines the law on account of the judgement of the Supreme Court on Kano governorship elections.
The judgement is scheduled to be delivered on Friday by a five member panel of the Supreme Court.
In a press conference held at the Bompai headquarters of the Command, Thursday, the state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Usaini Gumel affirmed that they have the capacity to maintain law and order in the state.
Gumel, who spoke at the end of a pre -judgement security meeting in his office, stressed that both the NNPP and the APC had reiterated to uphold the peace accord they signed and entered into at the different times in the past
In this regard, he warned that anyone who breaks the law in the name of a political party was doing so at his own peril adding that not only would such a person be arrested, any politician who comes forth to stand for him would equally be arrested.
He disclosed that the deployment of officers to strategic locations, especially troublesome spots, would commence from 6.00pm on Thursday while appealing to residents to bear with the various checks and measures that would be put in place by security agencies on account of this.
He appealed to parents and guardians not to allow their wards and younger ones to be used by politicians to disrupt the peace of the state even as he encouraged the members of the public to go about their legitimate businesses without fear of any harm.
Daily Sun gathered however that many residents of the state have decided to stay at home or to limit their movements to only essential places throughout Friday while a number of private schools and businesses have decided on the side of caution to shut down until Saturday or Monday. End.
