The Kano State Government has opened up on its decision to hang the portrait of the deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11, on a central position of the Coronation Hall at the Government House.
The government’s response came in the wake of growing criticisms in the ancient city that the portrait of the present monarch, Aminu Ado Bayero. is the rightful picture to occupy the vintage spot.
In his reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa explained however that, “The history of the coronation hall is synonymous to the 14th emir of Kano Malam Muhammadu Sanusi”
He added that ” This is because it was built for his presentation of staff of office after he was crowned as the emir succeeding late Alhaji Ado Bayero in 2014 during the administration of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.”
“So traditionally, his picture shall remain there forever. Bringing back the picture of the 14th is part of the ongoing rehabilitation to give the Coronation hall a facelift.”
Kano Coronation Hall is used for official engagements by the state government. On Monday, when Daily Sun visited the Hall, the portrait of the deposed monarch, Muhammadu Sanusi 11, instead of that of the current Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero was hanging on the left-hand side of the front view of the hall.
It was located alongside the portrait of the former governor, of the State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Governor, Abba Kyari and that of President Bola Tinubu.
