- A kingmaker of the Kano Emirate Council and the sole plaintiff behind the litigation challenging the dissolution of the Kano Emirate Council by the Kano State House of Assembly, Aminu Babba Danagundi has directed his lawyerrs to proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the appellant court on his right application.
Danagundi who is the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate Council had last year approached a Federal Court in Kano to enforce his rights following the repeal of the Kano Emirate Council Law 2024 by the Kano State House of Assembly.
Speaking at a press conference, held on Sunday, at Nassarawa Mini Palace in Kano, Danagundi disagreed with the judgement of the appellate court on his right application expressing optimism that the Supreme Court would rule in his favour and to the satisfaction of the people of Kano.
Danagundi also expressed shock at the behaviour of the Lamido Sanusi Lamido and the Kano State government both of whom.he accused of deliberately misleading the public about the judgements of the appeal court in Abuja for their own selfish end.
Offering insight into the appeal court judgements on the two cases; Danagundi insisted that there was no portion of the judgements that validated the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir of Kano or offered him a cause to encourage the people to celebrate on his behalf.
He explained that the appeal court, in its wisdom, had ruled that the Federal High Court had no jurisdiction to hear his own case on the grounds that it bothered on chieftaincy and traditional matters.

He said that in the second case, the appelate court rejected the decision of Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano High Court on the grounds that it did not grant the respondents the right of faiir hearing, consequencntly directing.that the matter be returned to the Kano State Chief Judge for reassignment
Danagundi stressed that the entire reliefs sought in that case among which included the right of the Governor to assent to the bill and the right of the state House of Assembly to amend the Kano Emirate Law were all returned for retrial.
Danagundi expressed dissapointment that Sanusi, who is a reputed Islamic scholar, would knowingly mislead the public about his purported victory knowing fully well that the appeal court did not endorse his position as the Emir of Kano.
Danagundi insisted that the summary of the two judgements of the appeal court is that Aminu Ado Bayero remained the Emir of Kano until the outcome of the retrial as ordered by the appeal court.
He therefore enjoined his supporters and the people of the state to remain calm and prayerful, insisting that justice will be theirs in the end.
