Thousands of residents trooped out to the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, yesterday, to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf back home from Abuja.
He was received by his deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo; Speaker state House of Assembly, Isma’il Jibrin Falgore; Chief of Staff, Shehu Sagagi; Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, members of the National, state Assemblies, state executive council and Special Advisers as well as thousands of red cap loyalists of Kwankwasiyya movement.
The rousing reception for Governor Yusuf after the hearing of his appeal at the Supreme Court against the All Progressives Congress (APC) testified to his strong popularity and wide acceptance by Kano people.
It took the governor’s convoy over three hours to journey between Malam Aminu International Airport, to Sani Abacha Stadium.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has felicitated with the people of the state particularly the Christian community as they celebrate Christmas.
He called on them to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity in line with the true teachings of Jesus Christ which emphasises tolerance, patience, care for the needy and love for one another.
He enjoined people to continue living in peace and adhere to traffic rules and regulations in order to avoid all forms of road accidents and protect the lives of every road user.
He also urged Christians to use the festive period to pray for unity, peace and prosperity for the state and the country in general.
He assured that his administration would continue to execute projects and programmes that are targeted towards the socio-economic development of the society.
