Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested an 85-year-old man, Ibrahim Usman for an alleged abduction of a minor.
This incident happened at his Yar’adua Quarters at Rimin Kebe area in Ungogo Local Government Area in the state. Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, stated this in a release on Friday.
He explained that the suspect abducted the victim, a three-year-old boy in the neighbourhood and attempted to hide him at the residence of his friend at Hotoro bye-pass area in the state.
His luck ran out, however, when his friend suspected foul play and rejected to have the boy in his custody. Not done, the friend decided to alert residents of Rimin Kebe who, who at the time, had been looking for the missing boy. “This development led the suspect to run away and he was later picked up by personnel of the Corps, Ungogo division.” he stated.
“Worthy of note is that the suspect had last two months collected the victim father’s phone number but never called him for once,” he stated.
Abdullahi revealed that investigation into the case had reached an advanced stage, adding that upon conclusion, the suspect will be charged to court.
