The Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, has said the state is targeting N20billion in monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), as ongoing fiscal reforms continue to strengthen tax administration and boost compliance.

He disclosed this in Kaduna when he received a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which also conferred on him the title of Grand Patron.

Adams said the state’s monthly revenue had increased significantly from about N4 billion in 2023 to approximately N9billion currently, attributing the growth to improved systems, transparency and rising public trust.

According to him, taxpayers are now more willing to fulfil their obligations as government investments become increasingly visible in infrastructure, healthcare, education and social services.

“The progress we are seeing in revenue generation is a reflection of trust. People are more willing to pay taxes when they can see development in their communities,” he said.

Adams stated that the Uba Sani administration remains committed to ensuring that every naira generated translates into projects that directly impact citizens, while protecting taxpayers from multiple taxation and undue pressure.

He stressed that taxation should be seen as a civic responsibility rather than a burden, adding that KADIRS would continue to deepen reforms that encourage voluntary compliance.

The revenue chief also expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him, describing it as recognition of the contributions of non-indigenes to Kaduna’s development.

Earlier, the association’s co-convener, Mr. Johnny Nwankwere, formally presented Adams with a letter of confirmation and the group’s flag.

He described Adams as a reform-driven administrator, whose leadership has transformed tax administration and improved relations between taxpayers and government.

The association pledged continued support for the state’s revenue drive through public enlightenment and grassroots mobilisation.

The delegation leader and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Support Groups, Abdulsamad Chima Amadi, said collaboration between government institutions and community organisations remains critical to achieving development goals.
